End Zone to End Zone

Way to go Green Team-er's!!!!  You donated over 300 pair of jeans for the Teens for Jeans campaign in partnership with DoSomething.org and Aeropostale!!!

Green Team Officers, Morgan Hope Davis, Haley Webb, and Jessica Box delivered all the collected jeans to our local Aeropostale store at The University Mall.  It was a handful carting all the loads of jeans through the mall, but the Aeropostale Staff was super excited about our donation.  They are going to deliver our jeans to teenagers across the state that are currently living in homeless shelters.

We collected enough jeans to spread from endzone to endzone on the football field and still have some leftover!  Great job, Team!

The Story of Bottled Water

Hey Green Team-ers!

Watch this short video about the environmental impacts of the bottled water industry, and then follow the website below to take a short quiz (don't worry, it's not graded!).  You get one service hour for watching the video and taking the quiz by THIS Friday, April 4th.

For an additional service hour, design a water bottle label that actually depicts what the bottled water industry does to our environment.  Create your bottled water label design on a plain white sheet of copy paper; write your name on the back; and turn it in to Mrs. Reynolds or Ms. Barringer by THIS Friday April 4th .

Teachers for Jeans

Brookwood High School teachers normally dress in jeans for "Casual Friday's."  In support of the Green Team's participation in the Teens for Jeans campaign, teachers got to wear jeans on a Tuesday!  Any teacher that brought a pair of jeans to donate, got to wear a pair of jeans to work that day.  The teachers donated over 40 pairs of jeans!
BHS teachers are the BEST!
#teensforjeans
Teachers on the Math Hall got cute and creative with their collected jeans.

Mrs. Carr, Mr. Hubbard, and Ms. Chastain all took part in the jean drive.

Mrs. Whittaker, Ms. Barringer, and Mrs. Kornegay LOVED wearing jeans to work on Tuesday!

Silly Mr. Hubbard and sweet Ms. Davis are loaded down with jeans donated by the BHS faculty.

Ms. Stamps, Mrs. Nelson, and Mr. Sexton challenge all the BHS students to keep bringing in your donations..."all the cool kids are doing it!"

Let's go, Green Team!
Our goal is to collect 500 pairs of jeans by February 14th.

Scavenger Hunt

To end the semester, we had a super competitive and really fun scavenger hunt at Tannehill State Park.  Green Team members competed in teams of four for the ultimate prize - a PIZZA PARTY!  Each team was given a long list of tasks, with each task being worth a different amount of points.  Teams had 60 minutes to complete as many tasks as possible.  It was an intense competition...Green Team members were running all over the park frantically trying to complete all the missions.  One team, in particular, was somehow able to complete every single mission on their list!  After the scavenger hunt, teams met back for a campfire, marshmallow roasting, and yummy s'mores!  Big thanks to senior, Jonathen Averette, for building an awesome campfire!

Some of the things included on the Scavenger Hunt list were...
- collect 10 pieces of trash
- collect 5 leaves, each from a different kind of trees
- collect three pieces of chewed gum (extra points if each piece of gum is a different color)
- photograph your team with a stranger (extra points for each person in the photo; extra points for each person making a silly face)
- photograph a teammate jumping out of a swing
- photograph your team's reflection in something other than a mirror
- photograph a recycle logo
- "I can't believe we all fit in here photo"
- photograph your team using their body to spell a holiday term
- video your team singing a Christmas carol while hanging upside down
- video an earthquake scene
- video a stranger telling your team a joke (team must laugh hysterically)
- perform and video a music video
